Meet your pup's extended pack

One of the benefits of having the largest genetic relative database in the world is that 99.9% of the dogs we test can be matched with at least one of their relatives. That means you can log into your account and see your pup's close, distant, and extended family members, see their photos, and even contact their pet parents to organize a family reunion.

A tale of two brothers reunited by DNA

Renlee and Lancelot were separated as puppies, but their incredible bond was rediscovered through Wisdom Panel. See how a simple DNA test brought these brothers back together.

How we match relatives

Genetic relatives have inherited DNA from ancestors they have in common. A mama dog and her pup will share 50% of their DNA, while extended relatives like first cousins and great grandparents may share between 5-19%. To find your dog’s relatives, we compare around 100,000 locations in their genome to see where they match, and check to see if those matching places are grouped in long sequences. Why? Because short DNA sequences indicate shared DNA among a particular breed, while longer sequences indicate a genetic relative match. This allows us to determine your pup’s true family relationships.

Two brother dogs smiling at each other

River (previously Cheddar) was adopted from @dogstrust as a pup. Thanks to a #WisdomReunion, River met his littermate—and lookalike—Chutney. As these huge smiles reveal, the meet up couldn’t have gone better - proving that DNA does more than just tell a story, it creates connection. 🧬 @sprointer_vinnie

What a great day reuniting with my bro, Ritter! We have come a long way from our days being rescue dogs in Houston, Texas! We hadn't seen each other since each being adopted from @neanimalshelter last spring. Thank you @wisdompanel for finding him. We ran like the wind. @charlottethecaninequeen

Brown and tag dog in sunlight

What a special day for Frankie Brown Dog, she reunited with her momma Nuba @nuba.the.faux.dobe. Frankie matched with Nuba on her @wisdompanel and found out she only lives a a few miles away! We learned so much about her origin story AND made new friends. 💜 So in love with Nuba. #wisdomreunion @theatriclibrarian
